Main Street Columbus announces 15th Annual Holiday Farmers’ Market

With the holidays just around the corner, what could be nicer than shopping from a local entrepreneur? The Hitching Lot Farmers’ Market Advisory Board and Main Street Columbus announce the 2022 Holiday Farmers’ Market, which will be held Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

As in the past, the Holiday Farmers’ Market, celebrating its 15th anniversary, offers the opportunity to purchase local, homemade and handcrafted holiday foods and gifts. Grab those last few Thanksgiving treats and even do some Christmas shopping. It offers an opportunity to explore local vendors, attend special events and enjoy a unique shopping experience.

A new feature of this year’s market will be an opportunity to help local organizations that need items to help underprivileged citizens in our community. At the information stand there is a donation box in which items can be placed. Acceptable items are unopened canned goods, non-perishable foods, and toiletries. Monetary donations are also accepted.

Another highlight will be Mayor Keith Gaskin and Sheriff Eddie Hawkins’ 2nd Annual Turkey Pardon, held at 9:00 am in the Boy Scout Hut at Hitching Lot Farmers’ Market. Take part in the Turkey Pardon activities and get an up-close look at two fabulous, happy turkeys.

“Holiday Market is the perfect time to get those last-minute goodies in time for Thanksgiving and start your holiday shopping,” said Barbara Bigelow, general manager of Main Street Columbus. “Our regular market season has ended and this is a great opportunity to stock up on wares from your favorite vendors. It’s also a great time to shop for your Thanksgiving celebration.”

The sales areas also filled up quickly.

“We are pleased that nearly all available spots at the Farmers’ Market have been reserved,” said Chelsea Best, Markets Coordinator.

“There will be more than 70 vendors with a variety of products, treats, holiday foods, gifts and unique crafts. This will be your last chance to experience the Hitching Lot Farmers’ Market until next May, so don’t miss it.”
