Women’s Basketball Defeats SEMO, Improves to 3-0

Colombia, Mon – The University of Missouri women’s basketball team extended its winning streak to three Sunday afternoon after defeating SEMO 62-50 at Mizzou Arena.

Mizzou was led offensively by a group of four Tigers, all contributing double-digit performances.

senior forward Hayley Frank (Strafford, Mo.) led the team with 13 points and shot 43% from the floor.

colleague senior Lauren Hansen (Long Island, NY) The Energy reached 12 points, half of which came from the free throw line, where she pulled off a perfect 6-on-6.

student in the first year Ashton Judd (West Plains, Mo.) added 11 points in 18 minutes off the bench to mark straight double-digit games for the first time in her career.

To top it off, junior guard Sarah Rose Smith 10 points knocked down, including four in the final quarter. The Tigers finished the game with a fourth-quarter surge and a 12-2 run.

Graduated Guard Haley squad (Indianapolis, Indiana) anchored Missouri’s defense and amassed eight defensive rebounds during the competition for a total of nine to mark a career high and break her previous record of six against Arkansas (3/3/2022).

The Tigers limited SEMO to just four second-chance points in the game’s span and locked the paint.

TURNING POINT

Missouri opened the fourth quarter on a 10-0 run and extended their lead to 14 points before the Redhawks scored again five minutes into the quarter. The momentum came late in the third quarter when newcomer Ashton Judd added five straight points to Mizzou’s lead before heading into the final quarter.

  • Missouri dominated the fight at depth, overtaking SEMO 40-26 and surpassing the visitors in the color 34-18.
  • Hayley Frank (13) Lauren Hansen (12), Ashton Judd (11) and Sarah Rose Smith (10) all double-digit points logged, the first time four Tigers have reached that mark in a game since the Florida game (2/27/22).
