Minneapolis mayor vetoes 2 City Council data requests on homeless encampment closures

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has vetoed two guidelines put forward by the city council that called for further studies into the impact of clearing homeless camps and police involvement.

The mayor’s office said the finding was “due to a technical error in the way the measures were written” as it relates to the recently adopted “strong mayor” government structure now operating in Minneapolis.

Both directives were delivered by Councilor 10 Aisha Chughtai and Councilor 9 Jason Chavez.
