BOSTON- This was announced today by the City of Boston, ECAC Hockey, Hockey East Association and Fenway Sports Management (FSM). Frozen Fenway 2023 presented by Moderna and the US Virgin Islands will feature women’s college matchups between Boston University and Holy Cross and Harvard and Quinnipiac on Friday, January 6th. The two women’s college hockey games will be followed by the previously announced men’s college hockey doubleheader matchups featuring Northeastern vs. UConn and UMass vs. Boston College on Saturday, January 7th. Saturday, January 7, 2023 (Men’s Doubleheader):
- Northeastern vs. UConn at 2:30 p.m
- UMass vs. Boston College at 6:00 p.m
After the 2023 NHL Winter Classic between the Boston Bruins and the Pittsburgh Penguins, Frozen Fenway 2023 presented by Moderna and the US Virgin Islands will feature some of the most prestigious teams in college hockey. The Hockey East Women’s Matchup sees joint winning school Boston University take on newest member of the conference, Holy Cross. In the ECAC match, Harvard and Quinnipiac have a combined record of 15 NCAA tournament appearances.

About Hockey East
The Hockey East Women’s League was originally formed in 2001 and launched in the 2002-03 season. This 10-team Division I women’s league has sent 11 teams to the Frozen Four and 26 teams to the NCAA tournament. Programs in the conference have a history that includes multiple championships and individual awards at the highest levels of play. One such story is Providence’s Cammi Granato. She led Team USA to an Olympic gold medal in the first-ever women’s ice hockey tournament along with nine other graduates, some of whom are now Hockey East Women’s League programs. The conference can also boast off the ice. A record 167 student-athletes were named to the league’s 2020-21 All-Academic Team for achieving a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Additionally, nine players were named Hockey East’s Top Scholar Athlete in the same season for achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA.
