Holiday pop-ups and markets in Portland offer alternative to online, big-box shopping

Every year around the holidays, shoppers looking for last-minute gifts or one-of-a-kind items can count on pop-up markets and gift fairs springing up in Portland.
For those looking to skip shipping delays at big department stores and online shopping this year, pop-ups and Christmas markets offer shoppers a chance to interact with and support local artists and manufacturers while they shop for unique gifts.

Native Made Winter Marketplace
When: 11-17 on 17-18 December
Where: 4636 NE 42nd Ave.
What: This holiday pop-up is hosted by the Native American Youth and Family Center and supports Native artists, makers and vendors. Shoppers can find jewelry, clothing, crafts, prints and more.

Portland Bazaar
When: 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on 17 – 18 December
Where: Premier Gear & Machine Works Building, 1715 NW 17th Ave.
What: Located in the Premier Gear & Machine Works Building in the Northwest District, the Portland Bazaar features more than 160 local manufacturers, designers and retailers.

The Makers Fair Christmas Market
When: 12pm-6pm on December 17th
Where: 2377 NW Wilson St.
What: Makers Fair, held at Hammer & Stitch Brewing Company, will feature wares from 10 local artisans including Landia Skincare, Dapper Bear Candle Company, Wag Theory, Catherine Chandler Jewelry + Objects, and others.

Mimi’s Fresh Tees Holiday Collection
When: 11am-6pm Monday-Saturday through December 31st
Where: 730 SW 10th Ave., next to Compound
What: This holiday season, Mimi’s Fresh Tees is hosting a holiday pop-up showcasing merchandise from Portland’s BIPOC businesses run by women.

Ceramic Northwest

What: Hosted by the non-profit Oregon Potters Association, this Christmas pop-up features handmade ceramic creations by over 40 local artists.

Where: Japanese American Museum of Oregon, 411 NW Flanders St.
What: Hosted by the Japanese American Museum of Oregon in Old Town, this Christmas pop-up features Japanese-inspired items from local makers, including jewelry, home decor, cards, origami creations and books, as well as some curated vintage items.

PDX Urban Wineries

Where: Director Park, 815 SW Park Ave.
What: PDX Urban Wineries is an association of 16 urban wineries operating within the Portland city limits. This holiday pop-up allows shoppers to sample and purchase a variety of wines from the association’s member wineries.
