Illini Softball Adds Three on National Signing Day

CHAMPAGNE, Ill.— The Illinois Softball Program announced on Wednesday, November 9, the signing of three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. Adisyn Caryl, Eileen Donahue and Delaney Mosley join the Orange and Blue’s Class of 2023.

Adisyn Caryl // Topeka, Kansas // Topeka High School // Aces Fastpitch // Infield // 5-9

Remarks: Named First Team All-Conference in 2021 and 2022… Earned First Team All-City in 2021 and 2022… Earned First Team All-State (6A) in 2021 and 2022…Got unbeaten and won a state championship in 2021…Repeated as state champions in 2022 … Rank 44th in Extra Innings Elite 100 Class of 2023 in 2022… Did Sister Zoe a sophomore for Illini Softball… Her hobbies include reading Spanish novels and listening to 90’s R&B.

Coach Perry on Caryl: “Adisyn Caryl is a multi-athlete at her high school and has the ability to play multiple positions on the softball diamond. She will join her sister, Zoe Caryl, who is currently a sophomore catcher on our team. She will also be reuniting with former Aces Sydney Malott and Stevie Meade. We love Adisyn’s size and work ethic. She’s the person you want at the table when it comes to the game.”

Why Illinois? “I chose the University of Illinois because it will challenge me academically and athletically. I wanted to be in a place that would help me grow and prepare for the future. The culture created by the players and coaches in Illinois is second to none and I can’t wait to be a part of this program.”

Remarks: Named an East Suburban Catholic Conference “All-Conference” in 2021 and 2022… Awarded First Team All-State by the Illinois Coaches Association 54th of Extra Innings Elite 100 Class of 2023 in 2022… Appeared on the watch list for the PGF Sophomores vs. Juniors 2022 softball game in Huntington Beach, California… Enjoys baking and decorating cakes… Favorite athlete is Jocelyn Alo.

Coach Perry on Donahue: “Eileen Donahue is a dynamic player who can swing for power but has the versatility to execute the squeeze when her team needs it to ensure victory. She has one of the highest softball IQs I’ve seen in a long time. Eileen is an energetic player with natural leadership skills. We are delighted to welcome Eileen to our squad.”

Why Illinois? “I chose Illinois because I can get a great education while playing softball at an elite level. The coaches and players have created a supportive environment that I look forward to being a part of while I graduate from this prestigious university my relatives who graduated from the University of Illinois are in their careers been extremely successful.”

Remarks: Four-year University Letter Winner…2022 Named First Team All-Conference and First Team All-State…2022 State Runner-Up…Favorite athlete is Aliya Andrews…Lists her father, Kevin, as the person who most influenced her athletic career.

Coach Perry on Mosley: “Delaney Mosley comes from The Lady Lightning Gold, the same travel organization as all B1G Ten honorees Lauren Wiles and Kiana Sherlund. One of the first things we noticed about Delaney was her overall athleticism. When you first see her, your first thought is that she has the physique to excel in any sport. She has great reach in the outfield and swings it to the plate with authority.”

Why Illinois? “I chose Illinois because the second I stepped onto campus I felt at home. The community on and off the field and the endless support from everyone is unreal and I can’t wait to be a part of something great.”
