Warriors remain winless on the road, fall 122-115 to Sacramento

SACRAMENTO — The Golden State Warriors led the Sacramento Kings by 13 points after a quarter behind a red-hot Stephen Curry, an aggressive Jordan Poole and a surprisingly impressive defense. However, what unfolded over the next 12 minutes is probably the main reason the reigning NBA champion remains on the road without a win in seven tries.

“You just have to understand that if you want to win games, your margin for error is a lot lower on the road and in this league,” Draymond Green said. “So it’s just something we need to find out

In a 122-115 loss, things began to unravel for the Warriors in the second quarter while Curry was sitting. Golden State led 32-21 when Klay Thompson came on for him at 1:58 in the first quarter. When Curry returned at 8:04 in the second quarter, the Kings reduced that lead to five. Sacramento was then able to maintain that momentum for the rest of the quarter, leading 64-62 at halftime.

“I thought losing possession hurt us in the second quarter,” said head coach Steve Kerr. “We didn’t play well offensively and that hurt our defence, put us on our heels.”
