Bryant City Council met Tuesday night for a workshop on the public works budget. They discussed the draft Budget Book 2023 related to the public safety budget, which includes animal control, courts, fire brigade and police. Finance director Joy Black went over a few things about the draft. She explains that they need to have a budget by December 1st. She added that they had previously talked about a 1.9 percent increase in sales tax, postponed the second payment for the 9-1-1 gear to 2022, and froze the engineering and purchasing position for the first quarter of the year, around the to balance the general cash budget and to cover the expected increase in health insurance costs. Black also stated that all sewer jobs have been put on hold except for the water engineer job.
